What the $19 does not buy

Rank tracking, keyword volumes, backlink indexes and competitor traffic estimates. Each of those needs bought or scraped data, and selling you an estimate of someone else’s numbers is the opposite of the argument on this page.

Why one number

A usage tier would mean charging you more for a good week, and the honest version of that is a bill you cannot predict. One price per website is a number you can decide about once.

Where your data sits

Your events are stored by Mayfly and by nobody else. No third-party analytics service, no data broker, no advertising network, and no cross-site identifier — which is the whole reason a cookie banner is not required to run it.

What do I need to get started?

A public HTTPS website you can edit and a Mayfly account. Add your hostname, paste the personal script into your site’s head, and run the installation check. Search Console is optional and requires access to your verified Google property.

Does the tracker use cookies?

No cookies or localStorage identifiers. Mayfly derives a site-scoped daily identifier on the server and rotates its salt. There is no persistent cross-day visitor profile. Consent obligations still depend on your jurisdiction, configuration and other tools; this is product information, not legal advice.

What does “online” actually mean?

A pageview or visible-tab heartbeat received in the last 90 seconds. It is a recent-activity window, not a continuous connection. Country locations are approximate, and the city and travelling characters are illustrations of the current snapshot.

Will this replace my entire SEO stack?

No. Mayfly works with traffic from your site, your connected Search Console property and a direct technical crawl. It does not provide a backlink index, competitor traffic estimates or rank tracking for arbitrary keywords.

What can’t Mayfly measure?

Daily identity means no cross-day retention, visitor lifetime value or persistent user journeys. Browser blocking, disabled JavaScript and delivery failures can omit visits. Reports state when a figure is approximate or a data source is missing.

What does it cost? Can I self-host?

Public pricing has not been announced, and self-hosting is not a supported offer yet. Join the early-access waitlist below to hear when an invitation is ready. The example dashboard is open to explore without an account or payment details.
